Cross Country: Banks County boys; Rabun County girls take 8-2A titles

The Banks County boys cross country team ran past Union County to win the Region 8-2A championship on Wednesday at Unicoi State Park. 

The Leopards' Buck Ledford (16:37) won the individual title over Union County's Hunter Hartzog (17:32), while Banks County Pepper Davis (17:38) finished third, Riverside's Hamdy Ismail (17:59) was fourth, and Union County's Benton Gregory (18:10) finished fifth. 

On the girls' side, Rabun County's Mary Jo Wright's time of 21:59 earned her the top individual prize over Union County's Hana Gregory, who turned in a 22:23 time to finish second. The Panthers' Ellie Adams finished third (23:01), Rabun's Lucy Hood (23:25) and Trea Blalock (23:32) rounded out the top five.
