Brenau University announces shift in Fairburn campus to all remote courses

Posted 8:19PM on Monday 25th October 2021 ( 2 years ago )

Brenau University will cease operating its physical Fairburn, Georgia location beginning May 31, 2022.

The university decided not to renew the lease with the city of Fairburn as more students shift from the regional campuses to distance learning.

The change is currently pending approval by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, the university’s accrediting agency.

Brenau University began offering courses in Fairburn in 2009 at a facility managed by the city. In recent years, the number of students at Fairburn taking classes remotely has increased significantly, with a major shift in the past 18 months.

Instructional and support services offered for students associated with the Fairburn campus will continue, despite Brenau’s distance learning modality.

“The vast majority of adult students are choosing to pursue degrees via remote learning rather than taking classes at a physical location,” said Jim Eck, Brenau’s provost and vice president of academic affairs. “Brenau has been a leader in remote learning and support for more than 20 years, so we will continue to provide our students, no matter how they take their classes, with an educational experience that is second to none.”

In addition to its campuses in Gainesville, Georgia, Brenau offers classes online, on ground and hybrid in Norcross, Georgia.
