BUFORD — Buford held Shiloh to just 82 total yards, just 14 rushing, in taking a 37-0 win Friday night at Tom Riden Stadium.
It was a battle of two Region 8-6A unbeatens, and Buford (6-1, 3-0 Region 8-6A) moved into a first-place tie with Dacula while the Generals (2-5, 2-1 Region 8-6A) dropped into a tie for third with Lanier.
Buford jumped on the Generals quickly in the first quarter and let the defense take it from there.
Alejandro Mata booted a 22-yard field goal to cap the Wolves opening drive and Ashton Daniels and Jake Pope connected on a 58-yard bomb in the final minute of the first quarter for a 10-0 lead.
Christian Butler made it 17-0 on a 1-yard scoring run, and 100 seconds later, Pope picked off a Shiloh pass and returned 20 yards for a score to push the lead to 23-0 by halftime.
In the third quarter, Davis Peek caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Daniels, and Dylan Wittke ran in from the 1 for a 37-0 lead.
The Wolves passed for 205 yards, with Daniels going 5-of-7 for 105 yards and 2 TDs and Wittke going 5-of-6 for 100 yards.
Isaiah Bond had one carry for 57 yards rushing to lead Buford. Victor Venn had 51 yards on 11 carries as the Wolves had just 122 yards on the ground.
But that was more than enough as the Buford defense forced eight Shiloh punts, and the Generals 14 yards rushing came in 20 attempts. Generals’ quarterback Jeremiah Harden was just 12-of-26 for 68 yards for the game.
Buford will play host to Lanier next week.
