Winder police are investigating an early morning explosion on Holly Drive.
According to a social media post, officers responded to calls of an explosion around 3:15 a.m. and discovered some had set off explosive material near a mailbox in front of several homes.
While no injuries have been reported, the concussion from the explosion caused significant damage to a nearby vehicle and broke windows in homes in the area.
An initial investigation revealed the explosion may be related to conflicts in a domestic relationship, but police are still looking for who set off the material.
Officers with the Winder Police Department are working with the members of the GBI Bomb Disposal Unit and the GBI Athens Investigative office in the incident.
Anyone with any information about the explosion is encouraged to contact Detective Wayne Manthe of the Winder police department at 770-867-2156 or to call 911 and request an officer if after hours.
Information can also be given to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Athens office at 706-542-7901.
Anyone who discovers property damage from the explosion may contact the Winder Police Department to have it documented in a police report.
