The Gainesville City School System has partnered with the app Purposity in an effort to fulfill the essential needs of the community.
The app is designed to connect needs with generosity by sending weekly notifications to users about needs in the area.
"We are so excited about bringing Purposity to the Gainesville City School System. There are so many needs our students and families have during these turbulent times that go unmet," said Jarod Anderson, GCSS School Social Worker. "There are also just as many people ready and willing to help but are not aware of the need or what they can do to help. Purposity helps address these challenges in a quick, easy, and efficient manner. It will greatly assist us in our efforts to remove barriers that impact student success inside and outside of the classroom setting."
Needs can range from coats and jackets during the colder months to household items for families experiencing hardship or tragedy.
The app is available to download from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Then, users will just need to follow GCSS.
