Dive teams investigating at shooting scene in Habersham County

Dive teams are on the scene of a January 18 shooting, trying to recover the weapon used.

"We did receive information that the weapon was thrown over the bridge into the water," said Habersham County Sheriff’s Lt. Matt Wurtz

Wurtz said the incident happened at Mineral Springs Trail near GA 115, and was initially thought to be a transaction but turned out to be a robbery.

The Georgia State Patrol Special Operation Division Dive Team is helping with the search. Wurtz said they planned to be out there all day.

"It's gonna be slow, they've got to basically mark out the whole water and grid search it by hand because the weather that we've had makes the clarity [of the water] a little bit less, so it's not going to be as easy as it would have if we hadn't had three days of rain prior to this."
