A Buford man who works for the City of Lawrenceville is one of two finalists named Tuesday night for Franklin County manager.
“Out of six applicants who were interviewed, the board identified two finalists that were determined to be highly qualified for the position,” said Franklin County Board of Commission Chairman Jason K. Macomson in a social media post.
Macomson released basic information about the two finalists.
Derrick Turner lives in Buford and has served as budget officer for the City of Lawrenceville since 2017. He holds a bachelor of business administration degree from Tennessee State University and a master of business administration in project management from Keller Graduate School of Management.
Bert Rosenberger of Milledgeville has served as director of wellness and recreation at Georgia College and State University since 2017. He received a bachelor of science with a concentration in parks and recreation from Georgia Southern University in 2001. He received a master of public administration (city manager track) from Valdosta State University in 2011.
Applications were accepted through Dec. 31, 2020, and the county received 30 applications, five of whom were from Franklin County, according to Macomson.
“After evaluating the applications, nine candidate interviews were scheduled,” Macomson said. “Of those nine interviews, two withdrew from the process before an interview could be held, and one applicant failed to show up for their interview.”
The board of commissioners will meet in a called meeting Feb. 9 to appoint the county manager.
The list of two finalists was released in alphabetical order by last name and “the board made no attempt to rank the finalists,” Macomson said.
A second, in-depth interview with each finalist will be held prior to the Feb. 9 called meeting.
