CUMMING — Former Chestatee baseball coach Kyle Counts will be East Forsyth High School's first head baseball coach, according to a release by the school.

East Forsyth will open in the fall and will play in Class 3A, calling Region 7-3A home. The Broncos will compete against Cherokee Bluff, Dawson County, Gilmer, Lumpkin County, North Hall, West Hall and White County.

Counts led the War Eagles for four seasons as head coach and four as an assistant. He stepped down as head coach in 2016 to take an assistant coaching job at his high school alma mater, North Forsyth.

Counts brings 17 years of coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate level -- Carson Newman University (2004), University of the Cumberlands (2005), North Forsyth High School (2006-2008; 2017-present), and Chestatee High School (2008-2016).
