Jack Frost, the owner of Memorial Park Funeral Homes and Cemeteries, died Wednesday morning from complications related to the COVID-19 virus.
A spokesman for the funeral homes said Frost, who was 89, had been ill for about three weeks.
Frost began his career in the funeral home business in 1956 in Tennessee. Frost developed funeral homes in 12 states and launched his funeral homes in Gainesville in the last 1980s. A biography on the Peach State Bank & Trust website, where Frost was a member of the bank's Community Development Board, said Frost purchased Memorial Park Cemetery in Gainesville in 1988 and built Memorial Park Funeral Home in 1990. Since then, Frost developed Memorial Park South in Flowery Branch, Memorial Park Riverside Chapel in Gainesville and Memorial Park East in Braselton.
Frost was well-known - and often honored - for his philanthropic efforts across the region. He often gifted marble statuary to churches, schools and other locations in Hall County, leaving a signature fingerprint on the community.
Funeral arrangements for Jack Frost are incomplete.
