TOCCOA – Fire consumed a car and section of woods on a mountainside near Toccoa Tuesday afternoon.
The fire, located across from Old Rock Quarry Circle, required the prolonged closure of at least one lane of Ga. 365 so firefighters from Stephens County, the Georgia Forestry Commission and the U.S. Forest Service could work to contain the fire.
The fire was reported about 2 p.m. and burned through the afternoon, with forestry crews using a plow and hand tools to construct a break around the fire.
Additional details are not immediately available.
