The region standings continue to be a fluid situation as several top teams were knocked last week as teams are starting to find their groove with the region playoffs now a week closer.

And the northeast Georgia area also is well-represented in a pair of polls as several big matchups are on tap for Tuesday night.

On the girls side, Buford dropped a spot in Class 6A in MaxPreps down to second but moved up a spot to third in the Kyle Sandy poll. In Class 4A, despite a loss to Buford over the weekend, Jefferson remained in the top spot in MaxPreps but dropped to second in Kyle Sandy. Also in Class 4A, East Hall has climbed into 16th in MaxPreps

In Class 3A, Lumpkin County dropped three spots to fourth in Kyle Sandy and remained steady at No. 7 in MaxPreps. East Jackson, meanwhile, is now 20th in 3A. In Class 2A, Rabun County still sits atop the classification despite a tough loss to Jefferson last week. The Lady Wildcats are fourth in Kyle Sandy while Banks County jumped three spots to 7th in Kyle Sandy and up to 12th in MaxPreps.

For the boys, Gainesville is 10th in Class 7A in Kyle Sandy but has not cracked the top 20 yet in MaxPreps. In Class 6A, Buford is seventh in MaxPreps but has not made the top 10 yet in Kyle Sandy. In Class 4A, Jefferson is 10th in Kyle Sandy and 13th in MaxPreps. In Class 3A, Dawson County is 13th and Cherokee Bluff 20th in MaxPreps.

Banks County is 9th in Kyle Sandy and 12 in MaxPreps in Class 2A. In Class A-Public, Tons County remains fourth in Kyle Sandy and has moved up to fifth in MaxPreps. And in Class A Private, Lakeview Academy has jumped into the top 20 at 17th after a big week last week.

The best matchups of the night may be at The Buford Arena where the Wolves play host to Lanier. All four teams come in ranked in the top 10 in at least one of the polls and both games will be for no-worse than a share of first place, if not the outright lead.

The White County and Gilmer girls will battle for first place in Region 7-3A. The Lady Bobcats won the first meeting but the Lady Warriors have been on a roll of late. In Region 8-2A, the surging Banks County girls will travel to  Rabun County in a battle for second place.
