Girls basketball: Chestatee, LCA take down ranked teams; No. 1 Rabun falls on the road; Buford, EHall, Lumpkin win

GAINESVILLE — Chestatee ran its win streak to three straight with an impressive 63-49 win over No. 7 Cedar Shoals on Friday in Region 8-4A action.

It also was the second straight region win for the Lady War Eagles (9-8, 2-4 Region 8-4A).

Bowen Corley led a balanced attack with 20 points. Emma Easterwood added 17 points, Logan Wiggins had 9 points, Sierra Yarbrough had 8, and Riley Black 6 for Chestatee.

Chestatee next will travel to Dawson County on Monday for a 1 p.m. tip.


EAST HALL 61,
MADISON COUNTY 41

The Lady Vikings also got a big Region 8-4A win on the road

East Hall (10-4, 2-2 Region 8-4A) used a 51-point explosion in the second and third quarters to take the lead and then cruise to the win.

Callie Dale paced East Hall with 21 points. Audrey Griffin added 17 for the Lady Vikings. 

Eats Hall will be back in action on Saturday at Valhalla against Walnut Grove beginning at 3:30 p.m.


LANIER CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 45,
WESTMINSTER ACADEMY 38

The Lanier Christian Academy girls remained perfect on the season after a big road win against defending GAPPS state champion Westminster Academy on Friday night.

The Lady Lightning, behind a double-double from Shyla Sheffield (16 points and 13 rebounds) knocked off Westminster 45-38.

Ashley Avery scored 12 points and had 7 rebounds for LCA (8-0). Lexie Robertson scored 7 of her 8 points in the second half and Hollie Beussee led the floor with 6 steals and 4 assists.


LUMPKIN COUNTY 60, 
FLOWERY BRANCH 54

Mary Mullinax and Isabel Davenport scored 17 points each to lead the Lady Indians in the win over Flowery Branch at home on Friday. 

Averie Jones chipped in 12 points.


ELBERT COUNTY 56,
RABUN COUNTY 40

A sluggish offensive performance by No. 1-ranked Rabun County (11-2, 0-1 Region 8-2A) led to the loss against No. 4 Elbert County on the road Friday night. 

Gracie Deetz led the Lady Wildcats with 10 points and 7 rebounds, while Ellie Southards added 8 points and 8 boards. 


BUFORD 58,
SHILOH 12

Ava Grace Watson scored 16 points and Blair Wallis had 11 in the blowout win over Shiloh on the road Friday. 

Buford had 10 players score. 

The Wolves (11-0, 3-0 Region 8-6A) led 37-4 at halftime.
