A Habersham County woman was arrested and charged Friday, Jan. 8 with the Sexual Exploitation of Children, according to a release from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
The GBI Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and was able to link that tip with multiple others.
The tip was related to the upload of suspected child pornography by 45-year-old Kristina Townsend.
GBI agents and Habersham County Sherriff's Office deputies searched Townsend's residence and found evidence on her electronic devices that led to her arrest.
The Rabun County Sheriff's Office also helped with the investigation.
Townsend was taken into custody and booked into the Habersham County Jail.
