The 2020-21 basketball season has been a roller coaster for most area programs, boys and girls, up to this point. On Tuesday, most teams will jump headlong into the all-important region schedules.

Several area teams, like the Buford and East Jackson girls, have been limited due to several rounds of COVID-19 quarantines. Others, like the Banks County boys, have been able to play a full schedule, 15 games in their case, to this point. Most others are in between.

But with region schedules typically scheduled to begin in earnest at the beginning of the year, the, hopefully, quest for state playoff berths will take center stage beginning this week.

Most regions involving northeast Georgia area teams began in December with scattered games. Now things will start to heat up.

There are some big region tilts on tap Tuesday. Below is the schedule for Tuesday's matchups (as originally scheduled):

Region 8-6A
Shiloh at Habersham Central*
Stephens County at Buford

Region 8-5A
Jackson County at Loganville*
Johnson at Eastside*

Region 8-4A
East Hall at Monroe Area
Flowery Branch at North Oconee*
Jefferson at Chestatee*

Region 7-3A
