AUGUSTA — For the sixth straight year, the University of North Georgia cross country team has garnered a top two preseason Peach Belt poll spot as the Nighthawks were picked to finish in second place, tied with Augusta, the league office announced Thursday.

Flagler was picked to win the conference championship to be contested on the UNG Gainesville Campus on November 14, garnering seven of a possible 10 first place votes. Both Augusta and UNG had two first place votes and were just nine points behind the Saints in the poll. Columbus State and UNC Pembroke rounded out the top five.

North Georgia has finished in either first or second in the PBC Championship for six years in a row, including a second-place finish in 2019. With new head coach Christopher England at the helm, the Nighthawks are poised to make another charge. UNG brings back five seniors for 2020 along with 2019 PBC Freshman of the Year and All-Conference performer Karmen LeRoy. Also back is sophomore Olivia Henry who was named All-Conference in 2019.

The Nighthawks will be in action for the first time in 2020 on October 10 down at West Georgia's Coach Gary Wilson Invitational. The race is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m.
