The Georgia Department of Transportation will partially open a new Barrow County interchange Tuesday, Sept. 22.
The State Route 316 interchange at State Route 81 is set to be complete by Thursday, Oct. 22, but two of the interchange’s ramps have already been constructed and will open next week.
Traffic will shift onto the new State Route 81 overpass bridge over State Route 316 and the current roadway will be closed.
Traffic from Winder headed to Atlanta will use the SR 81 overpass bridge to Carl Bethlehem Road and turn right to follow where it ties into SR 316, then turn left westbound to Atlanta.
Motorists traveling from Athens will need to turn left at second light on the bridge to continue traveling 316 east.
Traffic coming from Athens on SR 316 to Winder will need to follow signage and use the ramp to travel on the SR 81 overpass, then turn right and then left for Loganville.
