Volleyball: Bluff rallies past Hab Central in thrilling 5-setter

MT. AIRY — Cherokee Bluff ran its match win streak to three with a thrilling 3-2 win over Habersham Central on Thursday in girls volleyball action.

It was a back-and-forth affair as the Lady Bears (17-12) took the opening set 25-18 but the Lady Raiders rallied to win the next two sets 25-14 and 25-19 to grab the momentum. But Cherokee Bluff answered by winning long fourth set 27-25 before closing out the tight match 15-13 in the fifth set.

Emma Staples and Sage Sutulovich had huge matches to lead the way. Staples had 8 kills, 5 aces, and 10 digs while Sutulovich had 14 kills, 4 aces, 2 blocks, and 8 digs for Cherokee Bluff. Madie Levine added 15 digs and 17 assists, Tristan Boling had 2 aces, 9 digs, 20 assists, Finley Millwood had 9 kills and 2 digs, and Brandyn Peterson contributed with 6 kills and 6 blocks for the Lady Bears.

Abbi Hutchins threw in 14 digs and 5 assists, Grace Blythe Cornett had 4 kills and 4 blocks, Laura Ross had 5 kills, and Camille Godfrey and Jaydn Jarrard each had 3 digs for Cherokee Bluff.
