A Snellville woman was killed Thursday morning when a large tree fell across the roadway as she was walking her dog in her neighborhood. The incident happened on Capot Court around 11:15 a.m.
The woman was pinned by the tree and pronounced dead on the scene. The dog was also injured and turned over for veterinary care.
According to a press release from the Gwinnett County Fire Department, the woman’s husband was not home at the time and was contacted by police.
The woman’s name will not be released due to privacy laws.
This is the second incident of this kind in 24-hours. A man was killed Wednesday afternoon when a tree fell on his home in Atlanta.
