Most tenured officer announces retirement from the Gainesville Police Department

Deputy Chief John Robertson with the Gainesville Police Department has announced that he will retire on Sept. 30 after more than two decades of service.

According to a release from the department, Robertson was the most tenured officer and has served in almost every division.

“I have been truly blessed to have worked alongside some of the best and most professional officers for the last 26+ years,” Robertson said. “I consider them my second family. This community has and will always hold a special place in my heart.”
