Lawrenceville teacher drowns trying to save her daughter

A Lawrenceville teacher dies after trying to save her 9-year-old daughter from drowning over Labor Day Weekend. According to WSB-TV, Sarah Jackson dove into a Lawrenceville lake when she disappeared underwater and bystanders pulled them both to safety. Those nearby were able to perform CPR on the young girl, as well as on Jackson. Emergency crews transported both to the hospital where Jackson later died.

Jackson was a mother of four and taught at Duluth Middle School.

Jackson had been planning to take her family to Savannah for the holiday weekend but was tragically robbed by a masked gunman in Atlanta the day before. Her brother posted on a GoFundMe page that three men held her up and took her purse and cellphone, leaving her without the credit cards and cash to be able to take her family on the trip. He said her drowning would not have happened if they had been in Savannah, as planned.
