The closure of a portion of Green Street SE in downtown Gainesville that was originally scheduled to begin August 31 is now set to start Monday.

The street will be closed between Spring Street and Washington Street for two weeks from September 14-28 according to a release from the city of Gainesville. Weather conditions caused the postponement of the work.

Gainesville Public Works Deputy Director Matt Tarver said the closure is to improve utilities as part of phase two of the city's downtown streetscape improvement project.

The Hall County Parking will remain open and will be accessible via Spring Street. The overall streetscape project completion date is set for Summer of 2021.
