SOCIAL CIRCLE — Commerce took a big Region 8-A Public win on the road rallying for a 9-8 win over Social Circle on Thursday.

The Lady Tigers (9-4) had a pair of leads early but fell behind after the Lady Redskins plated five runs in the fourth inning for a 7-3 lead. But Commerce answered right back with a six-run fifth, highlighted by a three-run double from Paige Vickery to reclaim the lead for good.

Social Circle scored a run in the sixth to close to within the final score.

Carson Hobbs earned the win for Commerce going 5 1/3 innings surrendering 12 hits and eight runs while striking out one. Graci West got the save going the final 1 2/3 innings without allowing a hit.

Anna Taylor and Hobbs each had two hits on the day with Gabbie Deaton, Rachel Morgan, Maggie Mullis, and Vickery all collecting one hit for the Lady Tigers.

JEFFERSON 10,
EAST HALL 2

Jefferson rallied for nine runs over the final three innings to take a Region 8-4A win over the Lady Vikings at home on Thursday.

The game was a tight pitcher's duel early as Jefferson led 1-0 after a run in the second. It stayed that way until East Hall scored twice, including an RBI hit from Abi Mullins that gave the Lady Vikings (8-6) a 2-1 lead in the fourth.

But East Hall could not hold off the high-powered Lady Dragons offense. Jefferson reclaimed the lead 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning and then scratched across five runs in the fifth to blow it open. The Lady Dragons added two more in the sixth to invoke the mercy rule.

In the big fifth inning, Taylor Spivey homered with Savannah Smith and Paige Kelly also driving in runs. Jefferson pounded out 15 hits for the game. Mac Turner, Smith, Anslee Pittman, Emma Kate Sorrells, and Spivey each had multiple hits for the Lady Dragons, with Turner going 3-for-3 on the day.

Calli Hardison took the loss for East Hall lasting 4 2/3 innings allowing eight runs, only three earned, on 11 hits and striking out six.

Elvie Armour, Callie Dale, Alexis Burce, and Mullins all had hits for East Hall.

UNION COUNTY 6,
BANKS COUNTY 5

Lexi Sisum rapped out a single in the bottom of the eighth to lead the Lady Panthers to a Region 8-2A win at home.

The game was tied twice and changed hands three times as both teams came up with clutch hits throughout.

Banks County led 1-0 after the opening frame and increased its lead to 3-0 in the second. But Union County scored three times, behind RBI hits from Chloe Potts and Hannah Patton in the inning, to tie the game.

The Lady Leopards scored a run in the fourth to reclaim the lead and added another run in the fifth for a 5-3 advantage. But again Union County stormed back to tie the game in the bottom of the fifth inning on Sierra Burnette's sacrifice fly.

Trinity Queen got the win for Union County going the distance allowing five runs on six hits and striking out six. Jacy Ayers took the loss for Banks County giving up nine hits and six runs over 7 2/3 innings, striking out five.

Patton had three hits and Potts had two to lead the Union County offense.

Alexus Humphries had a pair of hits to lead Banks County.

GILMER 5,
NORTH HALL 2

Despite out-hitting Gilmer 7-4 for the game, the Lady Trojans could not overcome five errors in the field in dropping a Region 7-3A decision to the Lady Bobcats on the road.

After falling behind 2-0 in the first, North Hall scored twice in the second to tie the game. But the Lady Bobcats answered with two runs in the third to reclaim the lead and shut down the North Hall offense the rest of the way.

Macy Hamby got the win in relief coming on in the second after Noth Hall had scored twice. Hamby scattered six hits without yielding a run and striking out three over six innings.

Bre Stowers took the loss for North Hall surrendering just four hits and fanned three. But just two of the Gilmer runs were earned.

Anna Reeves led North Hall with two hits.

Hamby also led Gilmer at the plate with two hits.

NORTH OCONEE 13,
CHESTATEE 1

The Lady Titans jumped on the Lady War Eagles early with a six-run first inning and never looked back in taking a Region 8-4A win at Talon Field.

North Oconee added a run in the second and five more in the third.

Chestatee managed three hits -- one each by Madysen Gibbs, Jaden Lee, and Ashlyn Gibbs -- and scored its only run in the third on an RBI hit by Ashlyn Gibbs driving in Lee.
