CLEVELAND — Senior quarterback J. Ben Haynes looked in midseason form throwing for a career-high 327 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead White County to a 44-6 demolition of Stephens County at White County Stadium on Friday in both teams' season openers.
Haynes also added 59 yards rushing as the offense piled up over 500 yards for the game.
The defense was not to be overlooked as they held the Indians to just 150 yards and picked off one pass for the game.
Haynes got going early capping the opening drive with a 24-yard pass to Cooper Turner. He scored on a 5-yard run later in the first quarter and then on the first play of the second quarter he connected with Kane Lowery on a 60-yard bomb fo a 20-0 lead.
The Warriors (1-0) continued to pour it on in the second quarter as Ben Stowe scored on a 3-yard run, Haynes followed with a 2-yard run, and Haynes found Reece Dockery for a 24-yard TD pass for a stunning 34-6 halftime lead.
In the third quarter, Andrew Pierce booted a 23-yard field goal and then intercepted a Stephens County pass to set up a 26-yard touchdown run from Darius Cannon on a reverse.
Lowery finished with 4 catches for 128 yards for White County. Dockery, Cooper, and Cannon had two catches apiece for 153 yards collectively.
