Wednesday night wreck near Alto seriously injures two men

Charges are pending in a wreck that seriously injured two Habersham County men Wednesday night.

The wreck occurred at 8:20 p.m. on Ga. 365 at Alto-Mud Creek Road near Alto.

A 2000 Honda Accord driven by Samuel Bell, 29, of Clarkesville, was traveling south in the left turn lane on Ga. 365, attempting to turn left onto Alto-Mud Creek Road, according to Georgia State Patrol 7 in Toccoa.

A 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Gregory Jucha, 72, of South Carolina was traveling north in the left turn lane of Ga. 365, according to GSP.

Bell failed to yield while turning left onto Alto-Mud Creek Road and struck Jucha’s truck in the front with the Honda’s right front corner, according to GSP. After impact, the Honda rotated several times before coming to rest facing south in the median. The truck came to rest facing east on Ga. 365.

Bell, who was trapped and had to be extricated, suffered serious injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, according to GSP.

Bell’s passenger, 30-year-old Brandon Baker of Demorest, also suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, according to GSP.
