Softball: East Hall rolls; Jefferson beats Banks

ATHENS — There was no shortage of offense as the East Hall softball team blew past Cedar Shoals, 15-0, on the road Wednesday.

Maggie Banks held the Jaguars scoreless, allowing just three hits while striking out four. 

After a seven-run first inning, the Vikings scored eight runs in the second inning to blow open the game.  Brooke Hewell, Lacei Bunte, Gracie Ausborn, Alexis Burce, and Callie Dale, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Hewell led the offense going 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs. Bunte was 2-for-2 with one RBI.

East Hall (6-4, 2-3 Region 8-4A) will host region leader Flowery Branch on Wednesday, Sept. 9. Game time is 6:15 p.m.

BANKS COUNTY 3

The Dragons scored nine runs over four innings to beat Banks County on the road Thursday. 

Livi Blackstock led Jefferson at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance. Meanwhile, Maleia Truelove and Emma Kate Sorrells drove in two runs each in the non-region win. 

Ravyn Saxon pitched 3 1/3 innings, giving up just one run while striking out 3. Camoreea Hart gave up two runs on three hits in three innings of relief work. 

The Dragons (6-2, 4-1 Region 8-4A) plays at Cedar Shoals on Wednesday, Sept. 9. Game time is 6:15 p.m.

Banks County (4-4) travels to East Jackson on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 5:30 p.m.
