BUFORD — Trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the seventh innings, Buford scored three runs to knock off North Forsyth, 5-4, at the Buford Softball Complex on Monday.
North Forsyth looked to take control of the game in the sixth inning scoring two runs to go-ahead 4-2. But the Wolves would strike in the seventh cashed in a lead-off error and hammered out three back-to-back singles to tie the game, 4-4. Moments later, sophomore Chloe Hatcher, with basesloaded ripped a line drive into the right-field corner that scored Taylor Malvin to walk off with the win.
Sophomore pitcher Olivia Duncan, in relief, earned the win, allowing three hits, two unearned runs and eight strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings of work.
Freshman Mackenzie Pickens was 3 for 4 with a solo HR, 3 RBIs and scored 2 runs to lead the Wolves offense. Hatcher finished 1 for 4 with an RBI, and senior Alicia Ross was 2 for 3 with 1 run.
