GAINESVILLE — The Gainesville volleyball team was tough to handle on Saturday as they rolled to another Hall County Championship at home.
The Red Elephants beat runner up Lakeview Academy 2-0 (25-10, 25-10) in the title game.
Gainesville had beaten Lakeview earlier in the day during pool play (25-20, 25-18). They were 5-0 on the day also defeating Cherokee Bluff 2-1 (25-22, 21-25, 17-15) and East Hall 2-0 (25-14, 25-11) in pool play.
In the semi-finals of the gold bracket, Gainesville knocked off Chestatee 2-0 (25-14, 25-18). Meanwhile, Lakeview beat North Hall in the other semi-final 2-1 (25-20, 20-25, 16-14) to set up the rematch against the Lions in the finals.
For the day, Isabella Garrish led Gainesville with 91 assists, 3 aces, 5 kills, and 24 digs. Caroline Resiman added 4 aces, 19 assists, and 16 digs. Ansley Turner had 2 aces, 37 kills, and 29 digs. Lauren Ware contributed 3 aces, 23 kills, and 20 digs. Kerrigan Gruhn supported with 13 kills and 4 digs. Lauren Teasley contributed 19 kills. Callie Patterson added 5 kills and 2 digs. Kendal Glasper had 20 kills and 2 blocks. Margaret Embry had 3 aces, 6 assists, and 43 digs. Savannah Brock added 6 aces and 6 digs. Sadie Roach had 5 kills. Abigail Council supplied 8 aces, 3 kills, and 3 digs.
Gainesville improved to 16-2 on the season and will play in a quad-match at Habersham Central on Thursday as a final tune-up before region play after Labor Day.
