Renovated Gainesville Library set to open in September

Posted 8:00PM on Monday 24th August 2020 ( 3 years ago )
The newly renovated Gainesville Library's opening ceremony is set for Sept. 17 at 4 p.m.

According to Lisa MacKinney, the Hall County Library Director, the ceremony will be small - only around 50 people - to comply with social distancing, but they are hoping to properly celebrate once it's safe to do so.

"This is not the kind of celebration we had hoped for," MacKinney said. "But our hope is that maybe next summer, when some of this perhaps is in a better place, we can do a big celebration to coincide with the beginning of our summer reading program."

MacKinney said the building is looking great and the shelving and first order of furniture has arrived.

"We have great support, our staff have been wonderful." MacKinney said. "The county crews have been very supportive and very helpful."

The event on September 17 will be livestreamed for those who will not be able to attend.

More information about the renovation is available on the library's website.
