A 16-year-old Hall County student suffered a minor injury when she made a left turn in front of a school bus on the first day of school.
The Georgia State Patrol said the accident was reported at 7:53 a.m. Monday on Sardis Road at Brackett Drive.
"The school bus was occupied by the driver, Ms. Peggy Griffin, 53 yoa of Gainesville, and four occupants. There were no injuries on the bus," said Georgia State Patrol SFC Auston Allen in an email statement. "The other vehicle, a 2017 Chevrolet Trax, attempted to turn left onto Sardis Road from Brackett Road, but failed to yield to the school bus."
Allen said the bus hit the passenger vehicle in the left side.
The driver sustained an injury to her face, according to Allen, but she was not taken for medical treatment.
Hall County School District spokesman Stan Lewis said the students on the bus were being transported to Chestatee High School and Chestatee Academy at the time of the accident.
