TIGER — Rabun County standout quarterback Gunner Stockton is a Gamecock.
The nation's No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2022 announced Thursday that he has committed to South Carolina over Georgia.
The 247 Sports five-star quarterback released his destination on Twitter.
Stockton narrowed his list to the two schools in July an had more than two dozen offers from Power 5 programs all across the country.
Stockton has led the Wildcats to two straight Region 8-2A title and a pair of state quarterfinal appearances in his first two seasons at the helm of the Rabun offense. The Wildcats are picked to win the region again this season and are poised for another deep run in the Class 2A playoffs.
Rabun County opens its season on Sept. 4 on the road at Ridgland, followed by the highly anticipated battle with 2021 UGA quarterback-commit Brock Vandergriff on Sept. 11.
