Republican Andrew Clyde and Democrat Devin Pandy will face each other in November in a bid to win Georgia’s Ninth Congressional District, which includes Gainesville and much of Northeast Georgia.
Clyde, an Athens gun-shop owner, beat Matt Gurtler in the Republican runoff Tuesday, while Pandy beat Brooke Siskin in the Democratic runoff.
The November winner will replace Doug Collins in Congress. Collins is leaving the seat for a race for the U.S. Senate in November.
In the 14th Congressional District, Marjorie Taylor Green has defeated Andrew Cowan in the Republican runoff. She’ll face Democrat Kevin Van Ausdal in November to replace Rep. Tom Graves, who has decided to retire from Congress.
In state legislative races, Habersham County Commission Chairman Stacy Hall is in a tight race for the Georgia Senate District 50 seat. He trails Bo Hatchett by 34 votes, and the race is likely headed to a recount. The district includes a portion of East Hall County.
In the Georgia House District 9, Will Wade has defeated Steve Leibel. He faces no opposition in November, so he’ll join the legislature in January.
