COMMERCE — There's no doubt East Jackson coach Cameron Pettus loves his job.

The 2020 Mic'd Up traveled up I-85 and weaved through the back roads of Jackson County to East Jackson High School. We found Pettus and his staff running drills and plays in preparation for the upcoming campaign, now scheduled to kick off Sept. 4.

"It's exciting," Pettus said. "Anytime you get to share what you're doing, it's an exciting thing."

The Eagles have been navigating through the COVID-19 pandemic with every precaution prescribed by the Georgia High School Association since June 8.

"Everybody was just so happy to see each other," Pettus said. "It's like missing your kids for an extended amount of time. The energy was great. Our coaches, our kids, everybody, loves each other. We've got great relationships and that's the cornerstone."
