Two Gainesville firefighters were able to rescue seven kittens from a burning mobile home on Tuesday afternoon.

Both the Hall County and Gainesville City Fire Department were called to the scene of the fire on Marlow Drive around 4 p.m.

Gainesville Fire Division Chief Keith Smith said initially they believed two people and several kittens might be inside the burning structure. As some of the team began knocking down the fire, others found four kittens.

After the fire was extinguished, Gainesville firefighters Robby Buffington and Heath Elrod found the three remaining kittens.

Hall County Fire Division Chief Zach Brackett said the two homeowners were not at home at the time; they have been displaced as a result.

Brackett said the Hall County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
