CARNESVILLE – Just 24 hours after a Franklin County deputy was struck and killed on Interstate 85 near Carnesville, a wreck involving three tractor-trailers on I-85 a couple miles away claimed the life of a North Carolina man Monday night.
Georgia State Patrol Post 52 Hartwell reported the wreck claimed the life of Christopher Alan Cline, 57, of Lenior, N.C.
“The at-fault driver was following another tractor-trailer too closely, which resulted in a traffic crash,” according to GSP. “The at-fault driver suffered fatal injuries during the traffic crash.”
Two other people were hurt.
The wreck shut down Interstate 85 northbound for about five hours as troopers investigated and crews cleared the scene.
No further details on the Monday night crash were available from GSP Tuesday night.
A similar wreck involving two tractor-trailers loaded with produce occurred May 24 and seriously injured one of the drivers after his truck rear-ended the other on I-85 north of Carnesville.
