Just before 4:15 p.m. Monday, Habersham County E-9-1-1 received a call of two children and an adult female experiencing heat-related emergencies on Panther Creek Trail near Turnerville.
“Per the caller, the mom was unsure if they would make it out or not without help,” said Habersham County Emergency Services Director Chad Black.
Engine 12, Medic 12, Medic 21, Battalion 1, Habersham Search and Rescue, Tallulah Falls Fire and Lee Arrendale State Prison Fire Department responded.
“Upon arrival, we sent a crew of three personnel in from the trailhead,” Black said. “In determining the location of the patients, units relocated from the trailhead to an entrance off Ga. 15, where they were able to access the power lines with crews and a med unit closer to the trail and location of the patients.”
After being evaluated for heat-related symptoms, all three patients refused transport, Black said. The family was taken back to their vehicle and all emergency units returned to service.
