Gainesville Police search for serial burglar

Posted 2:31PM on Wednesday 15th July 2020 ( 3 years ago )

Investigators with the Gainesville Police Department are working on identifying a commercial burglar who has been targeting local businesses since Oct. 2019.

According to Sergeant Kevin Holbrook with the Gainesville Police Department, the individual is believed to be responsible for around 10 burglaries at a variety of local businesses, such as restaurants, offices and dry cleaners. He typically breaks in through a window and crawls on the ground to avoid motion sensors.

“He does appear to be an individual who knows exactly what they’re doing,” Holbrook said. “Not your typical run-of-the-nature thief.”

Because the suspect has been caught on high-resolution surveillance cameras, Holbrook is hopeful that the public can assist in identifying the man. The suspect has lighter skin, either white or Hispanic, has identifying tattoos on both of his forearms and has a shaved head.

Anyone with information should contact the Gainesville Police Department and/or notify Hall County Central Communications at 770-534-5251. Holbrook said concerned local business owners can reach out to the Community Relations Unit to conduct safety and security site assessments.

The Gainesville Police Department said the man pictured in surveillance photos shared on the department Facebook page is responsible for at least 10 burglaries at local businesses.
