A one-car accident in Hall County left the driver dead and a passenger seriously injured late Thursday night.
Gainesville resident Alexander R. Clegg Thomson, 23, was driving on Browns Bridge Road around 11:30 p.m. with Dacula resident Dakota Ryan Samson, 24, as his passenger.
The State Patrol says Thomson over-corrected after drifting across the center line near Hidden Hills Drive, causing the vehicle to begin rotating clockwise.
"[The] vehicle traveled off of the right shoulder of the roadway, striking a ditch with the front," explained Cpl. J Hedden with State Patrol Post 6 in Gainesville. "After initial impact, [the] vehicle continued across the driveway of 3670 Browns Bridge Road striking a mailbox."
Hedden says the vehicle, a 2007 Infinity G35, continued ahead, travelling off the right shoulder of the roadway before striking a embankment.
"This impact caused vehicle it to overturn," he said. "[The]vehicle came to an uncontrolled final rest facing west on the right shoulder of the roadway."
Thomson died of injuries sustained in the crash, while Samson suffered serious injuries. She was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment, and her current condition is unknown.
