An update from Hall County Sheriff's Office spokesman Derreck Booth this afternoon said that the roadway has since been cleared.

Law enforcement has detoured traffic on U.S. 129/Cleveland Highway north of Gainesville following an apparent construction accident that happened Thursday morning.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office said it appeared a construction truck struck a power pole north of the Longstreet Bridge, bringing down power lines into the roadway near Georgia State Patrol Post 6.

Georgia Power Company crews are making repairs, but based on the extent of damage, traffic will be impacted into the afternoon.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office deputies are detouring northbound traffic to Lakeland Road and back to Cleveland Highway via Lakeview Street.  The southbound diversion is from Lakeview Street to Lakeland Road and back to Cleveland Highway.

The sheriff's office is asking motorists to take alternate routes if possible.
