The Cleveland City governing board is back to its normal number with the swearing-in of the city’s new Mayor Josh Turner and Ward 2 Councilwoman Rebecca Yardley earlier this week.

Turner and Yardley took their oaths of office Monday night prior to the pair's first official city council meeting.

White County Probate Judge Garrison  Baker issued the oaths of office and Loyalty Oath to the recently-elected officials.

"I’m really honored and humbled to serve in this position - that the citizens of Cleveland would elect me and place their confidence in me to do that," Turner said after presiding over his first meeting. "I look forward to working with the council and hope they will be receptive to new ideas and we can work together to make Cleveland the best place it can be for future generations.”

Yardley also expressed her pleasure to serve on the council.

" I’m just humbled to be able to serve the citizens in Ward 2.  I look forward to working with this council to make Cleveland even better than it already is. If I can be of service to any of the citizens I hope they will reach out to me," Yardley said.
