A woman escaped a kidnapping attempt Friday night on Flat Creek Road in the Oakwood area, and now authorities are looking for a suspect in the case.

Hall County Sheriff's Office spokesman Derreck Booth said the incident unfolded around 7:30 p.m. on July 3 in the 5200 block of Flat Creek Road.

"According to the initial investigation, the victim had been walking along the road when an unknown male suspect stopped and attempted to force the victim into his vehicle," Booth said in an email statement. "The victim physically resisted while screaming for help. The man successfully pushed the woman into the vehicle and shut the door, but she escaped, and the man drove away."

Booth said the 20-year-old woman suffered a bruised eye, bloody nose and ear, as well as a number of lacerations during the ordeal. She was treated at the scene, and then she was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for further treatment. She had been released from the hospital at last report.

Deputies interviewed witnesses at the scene, but Booth said they want anyone who might have information to call Investigator Sinyard at 770-297-4697.

At this point, investigators have not released a description of the suspect or his vehicle.
