Mother Nature has not been the biggest fan of NASCAR over the last few weeks.
That trend continued on Sunday, as stormy weather washed out the Geico 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.
The race has been rescheduled to Monday afternoon, with a 3 pm start time.
Just as pre-race ceremonies were ready to begin at the track around 3 pm Sunday afternoon, lightning was detected in the area, putting the event into a delay. That was followed by showers over the 2.66-mile speedway.
Once the weather had seemed to clear, NASCAR officials worked hard to get the track back in race condition.

When the race gets started on Monday afternoon, Martin Truex, Jr. will lead the field down to the green flag, with Denny Hamlin starting second, Kyle Busch third, Jimmie Johnson fourth and Kevin Harvick fifth.
Brad Keselowski, Kurt Busch, Alex Bowman, Joey Logano and Clint Bowyer rounds out the top 10 starters.
Dawsonville, Georgia's Chase Elliott will roll off from the 11th starting position.
