State authorities are asking for the public's help in locating a Gainesville man currently wanted on fraud and forgery charges.

Although details are limited, the Criminal Investigations Division of the Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner’s Office says Gary Stiles, 62, allegedly created a fraudulent certificate of insurance covering Workers’ Compensation and General Liability in July 2019. A statement from the office says the act was performed while Stiles was performing construction at a Gainesville City School.

He is wanted for one count of Forgery in the First Degree and one count of Insurance Fraud.

“Insurance fraud is a very serious offense that negatively impacts all policyholders,” said Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King. “If you have any information on the whereabouts of this individual, please call our Criminal Investigations Division at 404-463-6363.”

If convicted of committing insurance fraud, Stiles would face up to ten years in prison, a fine of no more than $10,000.00, or both.

Anyone with information can choose to remain anonymous when calling the number above.
