After a rough week for law enforcement across the nation, officers in Gainesville and Hall County got a nod of appreciation from Free Chapel Worship Center Tuesday morning.

Volunteers at the megachurch on McEver Road offered free breakfast for law enforcement officers from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Officers and deputies were able to drive-thru at the main campus and pick up a hot breakfast.

"In this season of turmoil and conflict our local police are on the front lines assuring public safety and good will. It’s going to take the church and every community leader to make change," said church officials in a written statement.

Church spokeswoman Savanna Colwell said 112 personnel from the Gainesville Police Department and the Hall County Sheriff's Office picked up free breakfast during the four-hour event.
