An employee of the Hall County Sheriff's Office has been placed on leave while authorities investigate alleged inappropriate comments the employee made while off duty.

A post on the sheriff's office Facebook page did not offer specific information on the nature of the comments. When asked by AccessWDUN for additional information, the sheriff's office declined to issue more details, citing the ongoing investigation.

The statement from the sheriff's office, transcribed below, was posted around 12 p.m. on Monday, June 8.

"The Hall County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of inappropriate remarks recently made by one of our employees. The comments were made off-duty and in no way reflect the opinion of the Hall County Sheriff’s Office in any way shape or form. The employee has been placed on leave pending an internal investigation. Our employees are expected to maintain a professional demeanor at all times – both off-duty and on."
