GAINESVILLE – The Hall County Correctional Institution will house state prisoners for another year if county commissioners approve the contact between Hall County and the Georgia Department of Corrections on Thursday.

Warden Walt Davis told commissioners at their work session Tuesday afternoon that the going rate of $22 per day per inmate will continue into the new one year deal.

“You may recall that last year they raised the rate from twenty dollars to twenty-two dollars, unfortunately I can’t be the bearer of good news this year,” Davis told commissioners.  “I don’t expect any increases this year.”

According to the CI’s Financial Supplemental Report, the Fiscal Year 2019 contract with the state saw Hall County receive $1,370,980 from the department when the rate was $20 per day per inmate.  That works out as an average of approximately $113,248 per month.

Now, after ten months under the new rate, Hall County has been reimbursed $1,261,040, or $126,104 per month.

Davis said currently there are 220 state inmates in the CI population.

The contract also provides for reimbursement to the county by the state for medical costs associated with the health and welfare of state inmates.
