A serious wreck Sunday afternoon shut down the northbound lanes of Interstate 85 from Carnesville to Lavonia for several hours.

The wreck involved two tractor-trailer trucks, with one driver airlifted from the scene to Greenville Memorial Hospital after being trapped during the collision, said Franklin County Sheriff Steve Thomas. The driver of the front truck was not hurt.

Traffic was detoured onto Ga. 59 from Exit 166 to Exit 173, Thomas said.
