A Gainesville man was arrested Thursday and charged with one count of child molestation.

Lance Everett Frier, 50, was taken into custody at his home in the 5100 block of Butler Road, according to Hall County Sheriff's Office spokesman Derreck Booth. Booth said Frier remained in jail at last check Friday.

Booth said Frier was charged with one count of child molestation.

"The action listed in the warrant is classified as child molestation," Booth said. He later added that the code included any immoral or indecent act "to, or in the presence of, or with any child under the age of 16."

Booth said the incident allegedly occurred between August of 2019 and February 2020, but was reported to deputies on February 2.

"It was reported that Frier had performed an immoral and indecent act in the presence of the female child," said Booth. "This happened at his residence and he was acquainted with the victim prior to this incident."

The victim confided in an adult family member, who reached out to the Sheriff's Office.

The case is still under investigation and Booth couldn't say if there were other charges expected.
