A motorcyclist from Cumming was killed in a crash in Gwinnett County Wednesday evening, according to traffic investigators with the Gwinnett County Police Department.

Cpl. Collin Flynn said the fatal accident occurred just after 5 p.m. at the intersection of Oakbrook Parkway and Indian Trail-Lilburn Road in the Norcross area.

"The driver of the motorcycle Austin Caldwell...was turning left from Oakbrook Pkwy onto Indian Trail Lilburn Road," Flynn wrote in a press statement. "As he was conducting the turn, he veered into the lane next to him and struck a Toyota Camry. After initially striking the Camry, Caldwell’s motorcycle skidded across the roadway until it struck a mail truck that was stopped on the other side of the road."

Flynn said the 28-year-old Caldwell was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

The department's Accident Investigation Unit is still analyzing evidence to determine exactly how the accident occurred.
