Staff with the Northeast Georgia Health System want to remind patients to continue their regular health practices, despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Some of these practices include keeping up with routine appointments, refilling and taking prescribed medications and staying in contact with their physicians.

Northeast Georgia staff state that these practices are especially important for patients age 60 and older or have high risk factors that make them more susceptible to the virus.

Staff with NGHS want patients to know that it is safe to come to their facilities in times of need, as well.

“You can safely come to the emergency room, you can safely go to Urgent Care,” said Doctor Clifton Hastings, Chief of Medical Staff for NGHS. “Urgent care I would call ahead, with the Emergency Department I would just say come on in and we will take care of that.”

Hastings appeared on WDUN’s Morning Talk with Martha Zoller on May 5th.

For patients who do not have an emergency need but want to speak with their physician, the health system is offering video visits. More information about the video visits is on the NGHS website.
