Rezoning request for large Braselton apartment complex delayed until June

Posted 6:10PM on Monday 4th May 2020 ( 4 years ago )

GAINESVILLE – A last minute request to table a rezoning application by a local developer means it will be another month before members of the Hall County Planning Commission hear plans for a 350-unit apartment complex near Braselton.

“Earlier this afternoon I received an email from Mr. Rochester requesting to table this item to the June 1, 2020, Planning Commission meeting,” Sarah McQuade, Hall County Director of Planning and Development, told commissioners Monday evening.

McQuade was referring to Rochester and Associates of Gainesville and the firm’s request to have a 30.66-acre site on Thompson Mill Road rezoned from Agricultural-Residential-IV (AR-IV) to Planned Residential Development (PRD).

As we reported last week, Braselton Commons will be a gated community featuring one, two and three bedroom floor plans.  The developer says the project should be completed in 2022.

The applicant’s request to table the matter was approved.

Since the Planning Commission meeting was held online, representatives from Rochester and Associates were not available to give further detail about the decision to table the request until next month.
